A few inches different and you’re looking at five fatalities.

Indycar needs a full fighter style cockpit. None of this half assed crap F1 is doing.

My co-worker was sitting in between turns 1 and 2 for that Dixon crash and she told me that she legitimately thought she had just witnessed someone’s death after that crash.

I hadn’t seen a near-miss like that since Mark Martin in Michigan

I would like to see better head protection. I also want it to stay open cockpit without putting a pillar in front of the drivers face. I wonder what the stress diagram for a halo only mounted behind the driver looks like?

I prefer the windscreen but like the halo far better than nothing.

The windscreen looks much better. It sounds like they need to fix the curve of the screen for too much distortion. F1 and Indy both need to put more effort in to development in head protection. It is all just talk until someone dies again.

I’m not sure why there is any professional open cockpit racing left.

You didn’t put the mike Conway crash in 2010

What implementation can they provide? Has there been more research towards it? Theres always inherent danger. Football is so dangerous that it is proposed that the linemen should stand up now instead of the 3 point stance.

The only problem is how do you open it if it’s upside down?

A Formula car won’t rest 100% upside down. It will always lean to one side or the other. Engineer it in such a way that the canopy can be completely disengaged and you can just pop it off towards the side that is more up than the other.
